Analysis

After a scan is completed, we can see everything
inside the part (hidden passages, cooling channels,
etc.) as well as all the external features. The
resulting "actual" dataset can be used to perform
several unique investigations:

1) Non-destructive quantification of internal
flaws like porosity and wall thickness
2) A comparison to the CAD model (we produce
a surface color map - internally and externally
that shows deviations from nominal)
3) A full blueprint layout using our Calypso
GD&T software module.
4) Reverse Engineering: We can deliver a fully
surfaced CAD model to you.
5) Non destructive patent infringement analysis.

We typically use a web based tool like "GOTO meeting" to review our findings and give you the
opportunity to see what our engineers see before we finalize the job and ship it to you.

Varian 450kV
  • This system can scan larger, denser objects (aluminum engine blocks, heads,
transmission cases, etc.) and assemblies with an
accuracy of approximately 100 ųm (0.004”).
  • A complete part scan can takes many hours. A
cylinder head might for example take upwards of 8-
    12 hours.
  • Because the part is rotated 360 degrees during the
scan, we define the maximum part size as a
    cylindrical zone = 520mm Ø x 1000mm high.

Metrotom 225kV

  • This system can scan plastics with a
    measurement uncertainty of: MPEE=9+L/50
    ųm!
  • A complete scan takes between 30-60 minutes
  • Because the part is rotated 360 degrees during
the scan, we define the maximum part size as
    a cylindrical zone = 350mm Ø x 350mm high.
